About the Author
Author Jason McDonald has been active on the Internet since 1994 and has taught SEO, AdWords, and Social Media since 2009 – online, at Stanford University Continuing Studies, at both AcademyX and the Bay Area Video Coalition in San Francisco, at workshops, and in corporate trainings across these United States. His passion is to take complex marketing topics such as social media marketing and make them easy-to-understand for small business owners and marketers. His style is practical, hands-on, and fun. He received his Ph.D. in 1992 from the University of California, Berkeley, and his B.A. from Harvard University in 1985. When he’s not surfing the Internet, Jason can be found being trained by his black Lab, Buddy, across the highways and byways of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Another great one

The only downside to this is that it's a little small in terms of actual book size, but that doesn't change much once you open it. McDonald has done it again with another great book. First of all, the cover is eye catching, though simple, and it is basically the exact reaction I had after I had the chance to get into this book. Facebook Marketing has been somewhat of a challenge for me as far as basics go, and I learned everything I needed to with this book. I think everything good starts with a solid foundation, and I was able to begin making that foundation with this book. Just like the others, it's laded with tips and tricks, and done in a beginner friendly way. McDonald is great at giving hard to learn or hard to understand topics a new face. It was much easier to know what people in tutorials were talking about, and I also learned enough so that the tutorials really aren't needed anymore. Every category is broken down into subcategories so that you know exactly what you’re reading about. It made it really easy for me to implement every step into my attempt at Facebook marketing, and as a regular Facebook goer this is much appreciated. Though I knew about Facebook marketing, I knew nothing about how it was done successfully and how it was done to help yourself more quickly during the process. Thanks to this book, though, I learned everything I needed to know, all questions got answered somewhere. Any business, big or small, can find great information within the book. Because of all of the things I discovered that I did not previously know about Facebook marketing, I would highly recommend. Buying this is far from a waste of money.

Useful One. As a social marketing worker i'd say this book is very helpful regarding on Facebook marketing. I came to know about this book from one of my friend who is a specialist on social sites. Afterwards i made my buy. Thanks to Author for an innovative creation. Well written and well described.
I'd say give a try to this book if you wanna know something new, something better on Facebook marketing.

Helps You Build a Facebook Marketing Plan!

I've been studying marketing for over a decade and Internet Marketing in particular since Feb. 07 so I was pleasantly surprised to find a book from which I learned something! So many things seem to be a 'report' of part of another tome of authority, which is fine - if you haven't read the original several times! Not this book... er, rather Workbook!
It's small yet mighty.
It starts with a nice, basic foundation, so even if you are 'new' you can catch up quickly.

These days, a book doesn't have to be just a book anymore. It can be a multimedia experience. Facebook Marketing Workbook by Jason McDonald makes effective use of this by referring you to web pages you can visit to make more happen with your 'todo's' and they are easy to input, which is a boon!
The format of the book - 8 1/2 x 11, portrait layout - is a bit unwieldy for me personally because I often read in bed.
In the general overview of social media and social media marketing, never once did Mr. McDonald mention Pinterest, even in passing. According to everything I've ever read or Internet Marketer I've ever learned from, Pinterest is bigger than Facebook, twitter and google put together and it grew larger, faster than any of them. Perhaps that is hype, I'm not sure. I work hard to 'triangulate' information though - learning from 3 or more original sources.
Mr. McDonald goes into Edgerank which was certainly part of the Facebook algorithm. I'm not really sure it factors in very much anymore. I'll keep learning, just to be sure!
I know for a fact that Facebook 'pads' their likes. I have several "Pages" on Facebook and sometimes I offer giveaways of space memorabilia. Because of one contest, I was counting the people following one page and there were about 80 whereas the number of "Likes" for that page was somewhere around 271 at the time. That was definitely an eye opener. I started watching and sure enough, some of the "Likes" were added two at a time when we only got one more person on the list. At that time, Facebook rewarded a page if it got "Likes" in a speedy fashion, by adding at least two per person. I never got into the millions so I don't know if it was ever more than two at a time per person. I think they may have stopped such a practice since my discovery.

That's for sure! The question for the marketer becomes 'How can I put that to use in my business?' and this Workbook seeks to answer.
Upon first run through, Mr. McDonald provides some really cool tools on websites referenced in the book. I expect to go through this book several times though I'll watch for changes because Facebook seems to update the way it works just about the time you start figuring it all out. At least we're all in the same boat when that happens. Perhaps Mr. McDonald will help us further by creating a Forum of some sort where readers of his books can talk with each other about Facebook and how things change.
